Missionary Letter Idea

Here is a fun little idea I thought I would share for those much cherished missionary letters!

A little bit of background...
Recently my little sister received her call to Milwaukee, Wisonsin.
Honestly I could not be more proud of that girl.
I know she is going to be a stellar missionary and cannot wait to hear about experiences!

Her long time boyfriend is also serving a mission.
She decided she wanted to have a place where they could keep their letters
(rather than keeping them in a box or running the risk of them being thrown away).

She decided to get each of them a white binder.
She filled both binders with lined paper, envelopes, and stamps.
She kept one of the binders and sent one to her "missionary".

Now, each time they write a letter, they have a place to keep and cherish it.
Over time, they will be creating a collection of missionary messages.
How clever!

She asked me to make a cover for each of there binders, and below is what I came up with!
I fell in love with the idea! I decided to highlight on a map where they are each serving.

After creating the binder covers, I had some missionary moms and families like the idea!
They also created some "Missionary Message" binders
where they could keep and cherish the letters from their missionary.
Below is another design I created for a friend and her son who is serving in Nebraska!

Overall, I just love the idea!
What a wonderful way to keep some of the most beautiful experiences
and memories of our loved ones serving in the field!

Missionary Address Cards

This week I decided to make some simple cards you could pass out to family and friends before your mission!
They are simple to make and a fun way for your loved ones to keep track of your mailing address
(and a reminder to send you those much needed letters!!!)

I created 4 simple designs for both sisters and elders as seen below.
To finish off the cards, all you will need to do is print them off,
add a wallet sized photo, and fill in the information!
AS SIMPLE AS THAT!

My biggest recommendation would be download a copy of the PDF by clicking the links below,
and take them to a local copy center and print the cards on a nice white cardstock.
That way you will be able to easily write on the cards, but they still look high quality!
(You will also get 2 cards on one page)

Also, keep in mind that I created these images as a 4x6 so if you attempt to change the sizing,
you may run the risk of slightly blurring the image!

Good luck and feel free to print off, share, and use!

Missionary Purpose Bookmarks

DEAR MISSIONARY: MY PURPOSE BOOKMARKS
ENGLISH, SPANISH, FRENCH

I will never forget the moment that I opened my mission calling.
It was a surreal and spiritual experience that honestly cannot be described.
I remember immediately feeling overwhelmed with love for the people I would be serving and gratitude for my Heavenly Father.
I remember the night I opened my calling, I decided to read in Preach My Gospel about "My Purpose " as a newly called missionary.
As I read it, it gave me the exact confidence I needed to hit the ground running
as I prepared to enter the MTC and later as I served in the mission field.

In Preach My Gospel every missionary's purpose is clearly outlined.
It is a powerful description.
Every full time missionary knows what their purpose is.
It gives them a goal, a direction, an understanding, and fills their hearts with love for the people they are serving.

I decided to create a bookmark that includes the Missionary Purpose from Preach My Gospel.
Again, it is such a powerful statement, and if you aren't familiar with it,
I would highly encourage you to take a look and read it over!
Because let's be honest --- it is not only applicable to missionaries out in the field!

I decided to branch out a bit and recreate these in a few different languages including English, Spanish, & French.
Each bookmark also includes a front and back that you can print off and stick together.
Again, I made these bookmarks with missionaries in mind, but honestly, the purpose is applicable to everyone!

You can find the downloads for each bookmark below!
Please enjoy as you read them over and print them out!

Weekly Ideas

My posts for LDS handouts and printables have been quite sporadic in the past,
but now am excited to say that I will now be posting
WEEKLY MISSIONARY, YOUNG WOMEN, AND PRIMARY IDEAS!

All the resources you see posted on my blog are completely free for personal use!
Feel free to enhance your lessons or activities with any designs you see posted on this blog!
(please understand that a specific request for a handout or request for re-sizing of a printable
will include an additional cost for time and resources --- Find more information here!)

So, why is it all free?

When I began serving in the LDS Young Women Organization,
I found myself spending a lot of time trying to find cute and creative handouts, prints, and activities.
After learning a thing or two, I decided to begin making my own.
As soon as I did, I realized that one way that I could maybe help serve other
young women organizations was sharing some of my ideas.
You know...Pay it forward sort of thing.

Since sharing my ideas, I have come to know so many new friends.
It's been a complete joy for me share my testimony through my creations.

I will now not only be posting LDS Young Women handouts each week,
but also missionary ideas and some primary prints.

So with that being said...
FOLLOW OUR BLOG and keep checking back!
I will be updating the blog with materials frequently that might be helpful!

A quick reminder, because I do design these for free, I simply ask that if you share or use my ideas,
you give credit where credit is due (link back here or give credit to this blog if you repost them).
Also, if you are interested in using some of my materials for commercial use,
please contact me for permission at court.aitken@gmail.com.
I also ask that you do not alter or change the designs in anyway, as I still own the designs.

Again, feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the designs!
Thank you so much!

Missionary Birthday Idea

DEAR MISSIONARY: BIRTHDAY LETTER ALBUMS

I have had a lot people ask me for some creative birthday ideas for missionaries!
I often hear people saying that missionary birthdays are so hard because they don't want to get their
missionary anything too impractical, too big (shipping is expensive!), too boring, etc.

As I have been thinking about my mission experience, I realized---  you know what?
Missionary birthdays aren't all as hard as we make them out to be!
I mean seriously...they really only want one thing... LETTERS!

I remember while serving, for one of my birthdays,
my mom took the time to gather notes and pictures from a bunch of people that I loved.
Honestly, it was by far the best gift she could have ever given me.
I cherished those letters more than any object or treat she could have ever sent me,.
In fact, I still have them today.

So, I decided to create a couple little mini birthday albums that you could send to your missionary for their birthday!
Yes, it takes a little work gathering the notes, but I promise, it will be SO worth it to your missionary.

Below are 4x6 printable cards for an Elder and Sister missionary birthday album.
The printables include a cover page, note cards for people to write their letters on, and a few cute quotes.
(you can download them by right clicking on the picture and selecting "save image as"...
you can copy and paste the images in a word document and manipulate the size as desired)

You can print them off and hand them to people to fill out, wishing your missionary a very happy birthday!
If you are extra ambitious, you could also try gather a recent photo from the people that are writing the notes to include in the album as well.

After gathering all the notes, all you will need to do is put them together and send them off to your missionary!
EASY AS PIE!
(You can either put them in a 4x6 photo album, combine them on a ring, etc. - so many options!)

Show your missionary some love this birthday with lots of letters!
