General Conference Handout

Saying that I am getting excited for General Conference is a bit of an understatement.

I AM SUPER HYPED.
Listening to the leaders of the church is always something that I look forward to.

I decided to create a simple handout for either the young women or relief society sisters to encourage them
to prayerfully watch General Conference!

As of late I have been on a bit of a nautical kick, which inspired the handout.
If you want to pair a treat with the handout you could easily package up some chocolate gold coins or Nestle's "Treasures"... (mmmmm).

Also included on the handout are some "Map Markers"
which are simple suggestions of how we can get the most out of watching General Conference.
I took the suggestions and ideas from the LDS website, which you can find HERE.

As usual feel free to use and share my handouts!
You can download a PDF file for both the front and back of the handout below by clicking on the links.
These handouts are sized to be 4x6.

Keep in mind that  if you are interested in any alterations to the designs
or any adding an personal details, I am more than happy to help!
You can find more information and details here

Young Women Coordinates: Part 1

I am excited for to be able to continue to serve in the young women organization in our new ward!
I was especially excited to read that the new 2014 theme has recently been announced:

MORONI 10:32
"Come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny your yourselves of all ungodliness"

Needless to say, I am already excitedly studying up in anticipation!
(not to mention thinking of cute designs... of course)

I decided to get a head start by creating some simple presidency binder covers to be swapped out come January!
The designs are based on the upcoming mutual theme and are free to download.
I also decided to create the binder covers in English and Spanish!

You can download a PDF image of each of the binder designs by clicking on the links below.
All binder cover designs are set to 8.5 x 11.

UPDATE
Since creating these images and post,
I have additionally created a coordinating YW mutual theme poster, bookmarks, and additional adviser binder covers!

Just as a heads up, I know many of you have asked for additional coordinates including
monthly scriptures, class presidency binders, etc.
I will not be creating any of these items for free on my blog as I will be using the time
to create more free sharing time ideas, young women ideas, relief society ideas, etc.
But if you are interested in ordering such items, you can email me or find more information here!
Thanks for your understanding!!!

Hope you and your young women enjoy these free downloads!

Young Women Presidency Activation Ideas

As of late, missionary work has been on my mind.
There is such an excitement and enthusiasm for missionary work in the church and I find myself constantly thinking...

"How I can get more involved?"
"How can I be more prepared to share my testimony?"
"How can I show more love?"

I recently read the talk "Find the Lambs, Feed the Sheep" from President Hinckley
(you can find here) and felt so inspired and motivated!
I especially loved when President Hinckley encouraged,

"LET'S ALL WORK TOGETHER TO GROW THE WARD".

I immediately thought of the youth.
Have I mentioned before how much I love the youth program in the church?
Okay yes, I know I have.
But seriously, everything about it is so inspired.

Nothing is more incredible than hearing a youth member sincerely share their testimony.
Nothing gives me more strength than to watch a youth member stand for what they believe.
Nothing makes me more happy than to see a youth member find confidence in knowing they are a child of God.

With that being said, when you recognize and can see those blessings in action,
it is sometimes difficult to see a youth member who is struggling with their testimony
or having a difficult time being motivated to participate in activities or Sunday attendance.

I know that activation can be a difficult and sometimes sensitive topic,
but I also know that it is such a crucial part of missionary work.

I decided to create a few fun ways to encourage activation.
These ideas are really simple and could be executed by a presidency or an entire YW class/organization.

I also want to mention that although these ideas are fun and a great way to get girls excited about YW,
in order for them to be successful they must be combined with a whole lot of love.

My biggest suggestions as you use the ideas below is to make them personal.
Don't just drop off the notes, also visit the girls.
Get to know them.
Pray for them.
Call them.
Follow-up with them
Have class members invite them to church and activities.

It is not a difficult thing, it just takes a little more time and compassion.

With that being said, I hope that you are able to use some of these fun ideas
and get engaged the missionary excitement!

As usual, feel free to print off, use and share!

MISSED YOU JOURNALING NOTE CARDS
Below are some simple journaling note cards (9 on 1 page).
You could print them off on cardstock and use the back to write a sincere note.
You could even involve a yw class presidency by having them write their own personalized notes
and have them drop them off to the less active young woman.

"SODA-LIGHTED" NOTE CARD

Below are some simple tags that could be attached to a can or bottle of soda (8 on 1 page).
You could actually use these for less active young women, new beehives, or a young woman who recently moved into the ward boundaries.
Again, I would suggest dropping off this little treat with a personalized visit to the young woman!

"POPPING BY" NOTE CARD

Below are some simple tags that could be attached to a bag of popcorn (4 on 1 page).
You could print them off on cardstock and use the back to write a sincere note.
I would also suggest dropping off this little goodie with a personalized visit to the young woman!

CONTACT INFORMATION MAGNETS

Below are some contact information cards that could be handed out to the young women (8 on 1 page).
I found that attaching an adhesive magnet on the back is a great way for the young woman to keep track of your information (put on the fridge, etc.).
It is also a great reminder that you love them and are there for them always.
It is also great for parents who might be apprehensive about their daughter attending YW.
They can always have a contact number in case they need to get a hold of their daughter.
I would suggest dropping these cards off as a presidency and introducing yourselves to the young woman and family members.
That way they can become more familiar and comfortable with you as they make the decision to begin attending church and activities.

"BLOOM WITH US" NOTE CARD

Below are some simple tags that could be attached to a flower (4 on 1 page).
You could either combine them with an actual single stem flower or make simple paper flowers
(could even be made by YW for activity)
I thought these flowers were to die for cute and could easily be used with the handout!
You could print the tags off on cardstock and use the back to write a sincere note.
I would also suggest dropping off this little goodie with a personalized visit to the young woman

YW Birthday: Stand Ye in Holy Places Socks

I have have been really excited about the birthday gifts
we have been giving our YW this year and wanted to share!

I originally found this sock poem on sugardoodle.net from Brittany Olsen...

I thought it was just the sweetest thing and adored how it coordinated with the mutual theme.
I also loved the idea of giving the girls socks because they are something everyone can use,
and hey...they are cheap!

I actually used the socks and turned them into a cupcake and attached the cute poem.
I thought they turned out really cute, and the girls have just LOVED them so far!

I decided to slightly re-create the design of the original poem.
(I wanted to re-create it so that it would match the socks that I had found).
You can download and print off these tags by clicking HERE

For the supplies you will need, a pair of socks,
some sort of item to use as a topper for your cupcake (pom pom balls, etc),
cupcake liners, cellophane and ribbon.

There are a lot of cheap and cute socks out there.
I actually found these cute heart socks at the dollar store.

Again, you will also need some type of cupcake topper.
I found this glittery pom poms at Target in the party aisle.
They actually come with a stick on it, which makes it really easy when wrapping the sock
because you are able to just wrap it around it.

I also found some cupcake liners that coordinated with the socks and pom poms.
I choose to use a heavier duty cupcake liner, just so that it would maintain it's structure.

The process for making the cupcakes is really simple!
Seriously, anyone could do it!

1. Take a pair of socks and hold them together at the top so they match up evenly
2. Fold the socks in half long way ("hot dog" style)
3. Take the end of the folded socks and hold them up to the end of your pom pom stick
4. Begin wrapping socks around the stick of the pom pom (wrap at a slight angle)

Once you have completed wrapping the sock around the stick, place it in a cupcake liner.

To finish it off, I wrapper my sock cupcakes with cellophane to hold it together,
and topped it off with a cute birthday wish and poem!

Again, it's a super easy process, and they look super cute when you are all finished!
Feel free to use the ideas, print off tags, and leave any comments!

Thanks for visiting!

YW Gratitude Goodies

I just love everything about the Thanksgiving season.
The food. The changing colors. The food. The crisp air. Did I mention food?
Okay, okay--- while the food the food is a close second,
I think my most favorite thing about the Thanksgiving season is the focus of gratitude.
As I started to think about this holiday season some of the things that I have been the most grateful for,
I couldn't help but think how grateful I am for the opportunities
I have had in my life to interact with young women.
Sure sometimes it can be a little stressful,
but I would not trade my memories or experiences for anything in the world.

I was recently challenged to show my gratitude more openly towards
the people who have had a large impact on my life.
I decided to make these little popcorn goody bags for each of the young women with a little heart-felt note.

I think they turned out pretty cute, so feel free to use and share!
I decided to fill the bags with caramel popcorn.
I used my mom's famous recipe. Seriously--- it's to die for.

1 can sweet and condensed milk
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup corn syrup
fresh popped popcorn
--------
Cook until soft stage.
Drizzle over popcorn

I found these cute little bags with a little window in them at Pebbles in my Pocket.
I filled the bags with the caramel popcorn, added some pattern paper, twine and ribbon,
and topped them off with a little tag I made.

General Conference Handout: M&M

Can I just mention how excited I am for general conference?
Thrilled.
I really wanted to get the young women just as excited as I am for conference.
As a presidency, we decided to make and deliver these cute little reminders to the girls.
We attached this short reminder to a package of pretzel M&M's.
It turned out really cute and the girls just loved them.
It gives 3 quick suggestions how to MAKE the MOST out of your general conference experience.

1. Write a list of questions
2. Pray specifically about the items on your list
3. Listen for answers

Here is the handout I created! Feel free to use and share!
Happy conference weekend!

Presidency Directory

One of the things the girls requested in our young women group
was a directory with everyone's contact information in it.
After gathering all the information, I created these page dividers
to help add some "cuteness" to the directory.
In between each of these dividers we provided a list of the class contact information
and gave a copy to each of the girls in young women.
I think they turned out pretty cute, and are going to be a great tool
going forward to help improve the communication in our young women organization!

YW Bulletin Board

I just realized how many things I have done for YWs that I haven't posted.
I know that I have personally really struggled trying to find cute ideas for different things,
So... with that being said,  I have decided that I going to start doing a better job
of posting things that I get to create with my calling in hopes that it will provide others with some fun ideas!

One of the first creative projects we did as a new presidency was update the yw board.
Previously, it was all the old yw "bright value colors".
We transitioned the board to incorporate more of the pastel value colors.
As you can see we also used a lot of cute pins from pinterest to decorate the board.
It was a little difficult because we needed to incorporate both the Spanish & English themes.
Nonetheless, we think it turned out pretty cute.
